We, applicants from all academic institutions, including those without an extensive research infrastructure, to learn more about this interdisciplinary field of Big Data and Smart Cities. This REU site takes advantage of UNR’s unique infrastructures (for example, the AlertTahoe fire camera network and intelligent mobility facilities) that provide real-world data and experimental environments to enhance the interdisciplinary research experience for students. undergraduate. Undergraduates will work with faculty mentors to address the myriad of challenges open in big data theory and big data computation and provide solutions based on big data analytics to improve situational awareness and understanding. decision-making in smart city applications.

We welcome applicants from computer science, electrical engineering, as well as other related fields inside and outside of engineering, for example, mechanical engineering, atmospheric sciences, environmental sciences. environment, physical, etc. In addition to participating in a practical orientation week, students will also participate in workshops on how to write an application for graduate studies and on how to write an application for a Graduate Research Fellowship (GRF). from the National Science Foundation (NSF).
