Concept-A-Thon – Certified Data Scientist

MachineHack is back with another exciting hackathon, but this time with a twist. This weekend, the data science community is challenged on a mock test held for a Chartered Data Scientist certification.

This week’s challenge is part of MachineHack Weekend Hackathon Edition # 2 – The Last Hacker Standing. We pose unique problems each week, from July 30 to September 9, 2021, to test you on various aspects of the Data Scientist profession.

The world is building new paradigms to challenge old ways of thinking. With this new hackathon, MachineHack intends to do the same in the area of data science skills assessments. Traditional data science hackathons are typically designed to test data engineering and modeling skills. However, have data scientists already been tested on their concepts for a limited time?

Here MachineHack presents the latest innovation in this space.

Research has proven time and time again that time-limited testing is very effective in many ways, which is why many competitions around the world are using this method. A time-limited test is typically designed to assess skills such as conceptual understanding, original thinking, presence of mind, time management, and the ability to work under pressure.

Problem statement and description

In this current era of rapid skill-building, there are a slew of certifications that data science enthusiasts can choose from, but you’ll never know which ones are truly valued by the industry. This remains a huge question for data scientists to address and prepare accordingly.

In this week’s challenge, MachineHack asks data scientists to attempt the finely-curated mock test for a Chartered Data Scientist certification.

The Chartered Data Scientist, from the Association of Data Scientists (ADaSci), is a self-paced, exam-based program. Candidates who pass this exam will take a further step towards obtaining the CDS charter. The Chartered Data Scientist (CDS) certification tests a person on a solid understanding of the profession of advanced data science and in-depth skills in applied analysis.

Here is the mock test for a very rigorous exam, comprising 150 multiple-choice questions that must be answered in three hours. This test does not have a negative marking.
