Data Analyst I (Retail) – IT-Online

Job objective:

  • Increase the competitiveness and profitability of a product category by providing analysis, support, planning and execution of customer-centric category strategy based on product assortment, pricing, promotions and product placement.
  • The ideal candidate should have a Passion for Retail (FMCG) – a solid knowledge and understanding of channels and customers to develop effective analysis of in-store retail operations.
  • Possess an incredible talent for in-store retail analysis – generating options / alternatives, creating plans and making relevant connections to business performance and impacts. Being able to apply expertise and technology – getting results and meeting customer expectations.
  • This position requires a retail orientation and a strong financial and / or business acumen.

Qualifications:

  • Degree or diploma in business, information or computer science discipline or certification in analysis or equivalent – (preferred) but not essential if you have good delivery background: especially, in store oriented retail operations and comprehensive analysis of pipeline data.

Objectives of the position:

  • Research and adoption of best practices: data exploration and analysis of in-store retail operations.
  • Gain an understanding of the business division’s data landscape, particularly as it relates to the context of in-store retail operations.
  • Participate in the definition of business problems with appropriate questions and by proposing a specific analysis approach (full data pipeline).
  • Apply solid data methods, integration and programming. Apply deeper data mining and correlation analysis, including building and deploying data models.
  • Participate in the identification and adoption of appropriate technologies.

Experience:

  • Ideally a minimum of 2-3 years of data and analytics experience in the FMCG retail environment with great hands-on experiences and exposure across all facets of retail, ideally in a fast paced and changing environment. Must be operationally equipped and understand the immediate practical data inputs that form a strong data framework in this retail context – (essential).

Knowledge and skills:

  • Good knowledge of retail key performance indicators.
  • Excellent analytical skills.
  • Solid Advanced Microsoft Suite with Excel (Advanced) – (Essential).
  • Report writing skills in Tableau or similar software – (essential).
  • Strong understanding of data mining models, structures, theories, principles and practices.
  • Knowledge of Business Intelligence and Data Warehousing.
  • AWS / cloud.
  • Knowledge of the legislation relating to the collection, storage and use of customer data – (essential).
  • Knowledge of relevant data structures for operational intelligence and business intelligence systems – (essential).
  • Proficiency in using open source statistical package R, Python or similar – (advantageous, but not essential if candidate has knowledge of excel, sql and array).
  • Skills in using SQL in the data mining process, especially for data preparation.
  • Presentation skills using Microsoft Office 365 PowerPoint – (essential).
  • Office 365 (outlook, sheets, docs, slides, etc.) – (preferred).
  • Strong communication skills in English (essential).
  • Good time management skills (essential).
  • Good understanding of the data analysis process, from the question to the presentation of results (essential).
