Position Summary

Reporting to the Senior Technical Advisor for Strategic Information (TRACE), the Data Analyst will provide monitoring and monitoring and evaluation (M&E) support in the areas of management, documentation and reporting. data analysis, including an evaluation study on the impact of recency testing. on 1) the identification of HIV-positive contacts of newly diagnosed people living with HIV and 2) the risk of intimate partner violence resulting from the disclosure of recency test results. The Data Analyst will also support other analytical and operational activities related to Strategic Information (SI) projects, to strengthen health information systems globally, as required. Responsibilities may include data cleaning and management, execution of the statistical analysis plan, analytical programming and validation, and preparation of reports and data documentation to support analyses. The Senior Technical Advisor will prioritize the analyst’s tasks and assignments. The analyst will also perform additional tasks for the project as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Update, write, validate, and run statistical programs for tracking and statistics (e.g., creating datasets, tables, figures, and lists) (25%)
  • Perform data analysis and generate monitoring reports (20%)
  • Assist with data cleaning and management (20%)
  • Prepare data documentation, including data dictionaries, codebooks, and data user manuals (10%)
  • Summarize data and prepare routine and ad hoc reports and presentations to meet reporting requirements and requests from donors and stakeholders (e.g. SAP, PowerPoint, dashboards) (10%)
  • Provide statistical programming expertise to project teams by preparing analytical data files, writing code for macros, and using macro libraries (5%)
  • Develops and updates specifications for automated monitoring reports to be generated by study or project databases (5%)
  • Perform other related assigned tasks (5%)

Minimum qualifications

  • Master’s degree in public health, epidemiology, statistics, biostatistics, demography or related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience in data analysis (preferably using SAS and/or R) and statistical analysis with a high level of organization, autonomy, technical skills and team spirit
  • 3-5 years of related experience designing, managing, and working directly with databases from research studies
  • Demonstrated writing skills: reports, presentations and/or protocols
  • Demonstrated experience running statistical programs for creating tables, figures, lists, and database analysis
  • Demonstrated expertise in project-specific dataset/database structures and related data cleaning and coding methods
  • Excellent attention to detail and strong formatting skills using the Microsoft Office suite

Preferred qualifications

  • Understanding of public health, preferably including global HIV/AIDS
  • Knowledge of R or another statistical language to do numbers
  • Knowledge of data cleaning methods
