InfluxData Launches InfluxDB Native Collectors for Direct, Low-Code Migration of Data to the Cloud

InfluxData, the company behind the InfluxDB time series platform, is launching new enhancements to its InfluxDB Cloud service. With new serverless capabilities, InfluxDB Cloud sees an acceleration in the collection and processing of time-series data, as well as an increase in storage capacity. The introduction of InfluxDB Native Collectors puts developers first with the ability to subscribe, process, transform and store real-time data from messaging and other brokers and queues public and private in one click, depending on the provider. Native collectors eliminate the need for additional software or new code when migrating third-party data to the InfluxDB cloud, increasing efficiency and reducing wasted resources.

These native collectors bridge the gap between data sources and InfluxDB Cloud, enabling the direct collection, transformation, and storage of time series data in cloud environments. Developer teams will benefit from accelerated time series data ingestion into the cloud without the need for customization, orchestration, or additional hosting services.

“Data is born in the cloud at an exponential rate, but existing data pipeline tools that integrate multi-vendor cloud services are expensive, complex and difficult for developers to manage,” said Rick Spencer, vice president of product at InfluxData. “With Native Collectors, we’re accelerating data transfers from devices to the cloud so developers can focus on building and scaling apps with their time-series data.” These updates enable InfluxDB Cloud to become a serverless data consumer through easily configurable topic subscriptions, dramatically simplifying time series data pipelines and applications.

Features available to users using InfluxDB Native Collectors include:

  • Ingest data into InfluxDB Cloud without writing code.
  • Connect native collectors to device-to-cloud data streams to improve application operations, performance, and security.
  • Drive data consumption in InfluxDB Cloud without outside agents or coding, eliminating the need to use InfluxDB-specific processing in third-party platforms or code.
  • Deliver real-time data ingestion with increased speed, simplicity, and scale.
  • Out-of-the-box data filtering and processing before InfluxDB Cloud ingest to reduce storage costs.

Native MQTT is currently available for InfluxDB Cloud users using native collectors. InfluxData plans to add Native Collector for Apache Kafka and AMQP in late 2022.
