ENVIRONMENT:

YOUR in-depth knowledge of data warehousing and BI environments as an Intermediate Data Scientist is sought by a dynamic independent management consulting firm to join their team. Your primary role will be to provide statistical analysis, forecasting, predictive modeling, simulation and optimization to uncover trends, opportunities and threats and communicate results to business users to answer business questions . You should have a degree in Applied Statistics/Mathematics/Operations Research/Economics or equivalent education and industry experience. Other requirements include 5 years of experience in advanced analytics, building and optimizing models, manipulating and analyzing data using SAS and SQL skills or equivalent platform skills. analytical form, knowledge of data warehousing and BI environments, experience of Big Data ecosystems and strong theoretical and practical knowledge. advanced analytical techniques, including statistical methods, segmentation, experimental design, neural networks, data mining, optimization techniques. ·

FUNCTIONS:

  • Deliver business insights through statistical analysis, forecasting, predictive modeling, simulation, and optimization. Identify, explore, examine, integrate and cleanse data from multiple disparate data sources needed to answer complex business questions.
  • Design advanced analytical (quantitative) models that will answer key business questions or uncover opportunities for improvement, revenue growth, or cost reduction.
  • Analyze model results, interpret results, and communicate these results in business terms to business users so that the business impact is clearly understood.
  • Confidently and clearly communicate analytical results to technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Recommend solutions to generate revenue and reduce costs/losses based on model results.
  • Run and automate regular reports and operationalize powerful models.
  • Build effective and collaborative partnerships with BI analysts/data scientists/use case owners across the business
  • Work closely with data analysts to help answer complex business problems that require statistical analysis.
  • Regularly monitor the needs of internal and external customers and make appropriate recommendations.
  • Keep abreast of retail and business intelligence industry trends and data that will have business strategy implications or that can be used to support recommendations to continually “test and learn” to generate value. ·
  • Stay up to date with developments in analytics and advanced methodologies.
  • Build effective and collaborative partnerships with relevant business and IT teams, especially BI source systems.
  • Stay abreast of developments in advanced analytics technologies and methodologies.
  • Monitor and report on the progress of IT management’s remediation of IT audit findings and IT risks.
  • Contribute to the evaluation and selection of IT GRC applications, solutions and services.

TERMS:

Skills –

  • Degree in Applied Statistics, Mathematics, Operations Research, Economics, Data Engineering, Risk Management or equivalent industry training and experience. Graduate degree (Honours or Masters) preferred.

Experience/Skills –

  • A minimum of 5 years in advanced analytics, model building and optimization.
  • Experience manipulating and analyzing data using SAS and SQL skills or equivalent analytical platform skills.
  • In-depth knowledge of data warehousing and BI environments.
  • Strong theoretical and practical knowledge of advanced analytical techniques, including statistical methods, segmentation, experimental design, neural networks, data mining, optimization techniques. ·
  • Experience with Big Data ecosystems.
