Mike Macpherson, former senior data scientist at 23andMe, joins carbon management platform nZero as vice president of data science to strengthen the company’s focus on accurate and actionable insights into data

Prior to joining nZero, Mike was Head of Data Science at 23andMe, the consumer genetics and research company founded with a mission to help people access, understand and benefit from the human genome. Having joined the company in 2007 just before the public launch, Mike has co-developed many of the company’s consumer database products, including ancestry deconvolution and health risk prediction apps, and is the inventor of 20 US patents issued by 23andMe.
A seasoned leader and scientist, Mike will focus at nZero on building a team of mission-driven data scientists and developing a corporate culture where data plays a central role in all decision-making. nZero is distinguished by its team that is committed to creating the most accurate carbon emissions models and driving emissions reduction and decarbonization through evidence-based approaches. Mike earned a Ph.D. in the evolutionary genomics of Stanford University where he was a predoctoral fellow at the Howard Hughes Medical Institute.
