The Senior Business and Data Analyst operates as a member of the Data Analytics and Operations team. This position collaborates with business partners to create, deliver and refine analytics that drive data-driven decisions. The successful candidate will serve as a key influencer and champion in the use and management of information and analytics to drive and measure business performance and actionable insights for use in day-to-day and strategic decision-making.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with business units and senior management to enable the vision and delivery of a data-driven organization.
  • Consult with business leaders on their business objectives and recommend meaningful metrics and KPIs to ensure analytics remain actionable and meet specific business needs. Finish
  • Provide analytical reports and analysis with summarized key information and recommendations to improve and optimize performance across a variety of business portfolios.
  • Design and document dashboards, reports, and thresholds to alert business units of their business status and portfolio fluctuations.
  • Perform highly advanced and complex analytics to identify insights and correlations indicating transformative changes that guide business performance improvements.
  • Work closely with enterprise data teams to establish standards, processes, thresholds, data dictionaries, and enterprise data architecture compliance.
  • Create innovative visuals for reports to enable more efficient consumption of data
  • Monitor historical and current performance of key metrics to detect and report anomalies
  • Ensure the quality, integrity and accuracy of consumer data for enterprise data users (data science, analytics, reporting and operations).
  • Investigate and perform root cause analysis of data errors and provide short and long term solutions to issues, escalating issues where appropriate
  • Keep abreast of current industry trends and make recommendations for future improvements
  • Provide guidance, mentorship and training to new and less experienced analysts
  • Excellent analytical skills and understanding of financial concepts and products.
  • Ability to quickly become familiar with current and future policies, practices and trends
  • Excellent judgment and ability to quickly and independently analyze issues and take appropriate action with minimal supervision
  • Demonstrated ability to work well in a fast-paced work environment and effectively balance multiple and concurrent demands and prioritize responsibilities appropriately
  • Remains aware of and adheres to NWFCU policies and procedures as well as Bank Secrecy Act (BSA) regulations

Qualifications

Obligatory

  • Minimum 5-6 years of SQL writing experience, preferably in Oracle PL/SQL, SQL Server or Hive (Hadoop)
  • Basic understanding of data warehouse design (eg dimensional modeling).
  • 6+ years of experience with BI analytics and reporting tools, preferably Oracle BI or Tableau
  • Excellent analytical skills and understanding of financial concepts and products.
  • Proven experience in requirements gathering, exploratory data analysis, defining metrics, data visualization and presentations.
  • Ability to identify anomalies in large data sets, recognize trends, draw conclusions and make recommendations
  • Ability to assess risks and identify program vulnerabilities
  • Must have the ability to work MF 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Prefer

  • Bachelor’s degree in Analytics, Economics, Finance, Mathematics or related field
  • Experience in financial institutions, including analytics focused on CFOs and CLOs
  • Familiarity with Oracle Analytics, Hadoop Ecosystem, Python or R
