Senior Data Analyst (JHB) at Datafin Recruitment

ENVIRONMENT:

EFFECTIVELY interpret and transform data that can inform critical decisions and improve business as a Senior Data Analyst with your strong numerical capability and expertise with the business models and metrics and complex IT environments sought by a large IT enterprise. retail and consumer credit in Joburg. FUNCTIONS:

Execute data visualization and reporting strategy, policy and processes –

  • Perform a complete life cycle analysis to include requirements, activities and design.
  • Monitor performance and quality control plans to identify improvements.
  • Follow processes to ensure execution of relevant data application requirements for various business needs.
  • Assess yourself on business definitions and apply them consistently across all reporting projects.
  • Manage own time, capacity and resources to ensure accurate, complete, timely and consistent delivery of management reports and business reports.
  • Perform required administrative tasks on projects or initiatives.
  • Monitor and maintain data environments and projects.
  • Perform quality control and audit of reports to ensure accurate and appropriate use of data before release to end user.
  • Implement actions to correct deficiencies identified in the quality assurance and audit process.
  • Contribute to discussions that improve data reporting.
  • Work directly with team members and business users to resolve data conflicts and misuse of data.
  • Monitor reports to alert or identify when errors occur and communicate them to the business when needed.
  • Take action to rectify and find a solution to errors that have been identified during the monitoring process.
  • Prepare and present technical solutions and potential innovations and advise the company on the technical and commercial value of the proposal with appropriate compromises.

Develop and design reports in a timely manner and aligned with stakeholder requirements –

  • Interpret data, analyze results using statistical techniques and provide ongoing reports.
  • Develop and implement databases, data collection systems, data analysis and other strategies that optimize the efficiency and quality of statistics.
  • Acquire data from primary or secondary data sources and maintain databases/data systems.
  • Identify, analyze and interpret trends or patterns in complex data sets.
  • Filter and “clean” data by reviewing IT reports, printouts, and performance metrics to locate and fix code issues.
  • Work with management to prioritize business and information needs.
  • Use your skills to convert complex information into understandable formats to create meaningful business reports.
  • Develop and distribute reports in accordance with agreed requirements for clients and the organization.
  • Provide relevant reports for all stakeholder needs according to agreed timelines i.e.: weekly, monthly, etc.
  • Ensure that end-to-end data processes enable an accurate view of data for the business end user.
  • Filter through numerous enterprise data sources to ensure data comes from the most accurate source and is translated into reports that are understandable to the end user.
  • Make sure the same data sources are used to get consistent data outputs.
  • Document and obtain approval of business user requirements documents.
  • Implement requirement/draft report to ensure client needs are met.
  • Monitor report deliverables to ensure alignment with business SLA.
  • Translate metadata into explanatory report and visuals to make it easier for the end user to understand.
  • Coordinate and ensure that all data reporting projects are designed, scoped and delivered to meet business needs.
  • Design solutions for new, changed or upgraded requirements.
  • Collaborate with subject matter experts and the data analytics team to select relevant data and information sources.
  • Be diligent when granting permissions to all dashboards, reports, charts, etc. developed.

Transfer of knowledge and understanding of designed reports to the end user –

  • Communication to stakeholders to keep them informed of current developments within the function and to manage expectations on projects.
  • Ongoing communication and feedback to keep the business applicant informed of the status.
  • Understand data sources to ensure governance, procedures and standards are maintained and adhered to.
  • Use expert knowledge to explain data and transfer understanding to the business end user.
  • Update the data dictionary on an ongoing basis to ensure it is accurate and up-to-date with new report developments.
  • Establish and share a data dictionary with business stakeholders.
  • Engage and collaborate with technical business and IT functions to identify areas for improvement in data analytics.
  • Organize training and skills upgrading on new reports and/or reporting platforms to relevant stakeholders.
  • Be agile in creating networks within the organization that enable visibility and knowledge sharing.

Manage customer orientation in area of ​​responsibility –

  • Use expert knowledge to explain data and transfer understanding to the business end user.
  • Organize training and skills upgrading on new reports and/or self-service analytics platforms for relevant stakeholders.
  • Communication to stakeholders to keep them informed of current developments within the function and manage expectations.
