Senior Systems Data Analyst – Gauteng Midrand

Purpose of the role:
Our client is looking for someone who is passionate about working closely with customers to gather requirements and help define automated data solutions. As a System Data Analyst, you enjoy building relationships with end users and customers to understand their reporting and data needs. You also enjoy analyzing source data architecture and working closely with architects and developers to define scalable data stores that allow internal/external clients to perform advanced analytics and derive insights. You will always seek to create and maintain solid documentation and recommendations, maintaining a single source of truth for our clients.
As a System Data Analyst, you will have a unique opportunity to help define the key data elements to add value to our customers through an incredibly rich, diverse and global data set. Working directly with international teams as diverse as actuarial, business intelligence and product, you will translate their unique requirements specifications for data warehouse developers. You will work closely with the commercial and technical teams in the development and standardization of our customer data offering, providing estimates and setting agile delivery times.

By combining your skills in data architecture and customer relationship building, you will be at the forefront of helping key stakeholders articulate the value and impact this has in achieving our mission to improve people’s health and protect their lives.

Education / Experience / Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent training/experience (ideally in management information systems, computer science or information systems)
  • 3+ years of system analysis working with technical data teams
  • Database: Microsoft TSQL, Postgres, Redshift
  • Excellent analytical, communication and writing skills.
  • Planning and organization skills
  • Experience in Agile development within Scrum teams
  • Experience reviewing database diagrams and translating them into requirements
  • Experience testing large data objects
  • Ability to work well as a member of a team

Essential functions:

  • Build and develop relationships with key stakeholders and end users
  • Coordinate with business unit leaders to understand requirements, define development specifications and communicate delivery timelines
  • Define data marts and customer extracts in multiple international markets
  • Adhere to the department’s standard development, testing, deployment, source control, and ticket tracking processes
  • Ownership of Creation and Maintenance of End User Documentation
  • Responsible for training end users on key data elements within the data warehouse
