Slice Fintech: Fintech start-up Slice appoints Nitin Basant as data manager

Bangalore: Start-up Fintech Slice has appointed Nitin Basant as chief data scientist.

A graduate of IIT Kharagpur, Basant brings 14 years of experience in data science and analytics to Slice. Previously, he led a team of data scientists at FICO, formerly Fair, Isaac and Co., a data analytics company in San Diego, California. He has worked with clients around the world in industries such as financial services, insurance, telecommunications, retail and manufacturing.

At Slice, he will be responsible for scaling the data science and analytics team.

“Nitin brings with it considerable depth and breadth in data science and analysis. As slice is already pushing the boundaries in terms of a simple, personalized and hassle-free customer experience, it will further foster a culture of data-driven decision-making at slice, ”said founding CEO Rajan Bajaj.

Basant has co-authored five patents during his career so far, three of which have received grants.

“I hope to push the boundaries in terms of using data, machine learning and artificial intelligence to deliver an unparalleled experience for our customers,” said Basant. Having witnessed first-hand how data innovation can differentiate organizations in the fintech space, coupled with my experience in a global analytics company, have helped me adopt industry best practices. slice gave me the opportunity to marry the two.

Slice, who claims to have more than 3 million users, continued to hire and strengthen their management team during the pandemic. Over the past year, it has seen a 40-50% increase in average customer spend.

The fintech startup is backed by leading private equity and venture capital firms such as Gunosy, Das Capital, Finup, Blume Ventures India, Tracxn Labs, Better Capital, Navi Technologies by Sachin Bansal and angel investors such as Kunal Shah. The credit card platform offers customers flexibility in paying credit card bills as well as reward points on transactions.
